CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character's name: Major Evan Lorne
Character's canon: Stargate SG-1 and Stargate: Atlantis
What type of canon is your character from? TV show
Character's LJ: notyetgeneral
Brief history of your character (100-200 words):
There’s not a lot of canon info on Lorne. As of about ¾ of the way through season 3, he’s been with the Stargate program for at least 4 years. He was with the SGC for at least 2 before being assigned to Atlantis as Sheppard’s XO. He leads a team of scientists and marines on reconnaissance missions, and is routinely called in to lead the rescue of Sheppard’s team, though the situation has been known to be reversed. He’s also a painter, and his mom was an art teacher. As far as background I’ve created myself goes, I’m inclined to run with the fanon assumption that Lorne is a geologist, and that he holds a Master’s degree in geology as well as a Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering. He has one sister (younger) and two nephews; his mother is still living, but his father, who was also in the Air Force, died when he was still at the Academy. He moved around a lot growing up (military brat), and Atlantis is the first place he’s really thought of as home. He’s good friends with Dr. Beckett as well as Dr. Zelenka, and though he is friendly with Sheppard, he doesn’t spend much off-duty time with his CO because he feels it might be problematic. He joined the Stargate program 4 years before coming to Atlantis, but his off-world experience was very limited until he was assigned to SG-11 to assist with the naquadah mines on P3X-403. He almost didn’t accept his posting to Atlantis because he knew it would mean dropping his scientific pursuits, but the idea of a whole new galaxy was too tempting.
Brief synopsis of your character's personality (100-300 words):
Lorne is a consummate airman. He’s worked hard to get where he is, and he’s determined not to blow it. He’s not a tight-ass or anything, he just isn’t about to jeopardize his career on a rookie movie that could get him court-marshalled. He still can’t believe he’s in Atlantis. There was a time when he was sure he wouldn’t last a week at the SGC, and he knows his CO thought the same. It’s taken a lot for him to end up out here, and for all the crazy stuff that goes down on a semi-regular basis, most days he’s happy to be here. It’s like his geekiest childhood dreams came true. He’s a few hundred years early to be a Starfleet officer, but he figures that the Stargate program is as close as he can get. Besides, someone’s got to watch Sheppard’s back, so it might as well be him. He has a dry sense of humor that he enjoys using to bust McKay’s chops as often as possible. He has to work with the guy, but he doesn’t have to take his shit. He’s met some good people in Atlantis, and he thinks it’s probably the closest he’ll ever get to a big family.
Appearance:
Lorne is 35 years old at the point he enters the game. He's 5'9", dark hair, blue eyes, very solidly built but not overly muscular. He has a tattoo on his right bicep and various scars (mostly small) over his body from years of military service.
GAME SPECIFIC INFORMATION
What is the point of your character's canon in which you are introducing your character?:
Lorne will be entering the game about three-quarters of the way through season 3, just after Carson Beckett dies. He'll be on his way back to Atlantis after the funeral when he ends up at the hotel.
Is your character alive or dead at the point of entry to the game?: Alive
What skills does your character have?:
Lorne is trained in hand-to-hand combat, most ballistic weapons, as well as zat guns and Wraith stunners. He can fly standard jets for his time as well as puddlejumpers and X-302s. He is also a field geologist, has some experience mining, and carries a degree in mechanical engineering.
He can paint too.
When your character is shown to his/her room, he/she will find ten personal items belonging to them, which the Hotel has supplied. These things can ONLY be things they would typically have in canon. This will be known as his/her initial personal inventory. Please list what these things would be:
1. Art supplies (including easel, canvases, paints, and sketchbook)
2. His grandfather's violin
3. His laptop
4. Soccer equipment (including shoes, ball and protective gear)
5. Dress blues
6. Photo album of his family and friends from the SGC
7. iPod-like device loaded with his favorite music and movies
8. The complete set of Sandman graphic novels
9. A Wraith stunner
10. A case containing his dad's old wings and medals
